Students may be placed into MATH 125: Beginning Algebra and MATH 126: Intermediate Algebra based upon their mathematics background. These courses count as university credits but do not fulfill the general education ACE Mathematics requirements. Rather, they serve to prepare students for future mathematics coursework, filling in any gaps. Note that MATH 125/126 are graded satisfactory/unsatisfactory, so they will not impact a student's GPA, allowing students to focus on mastering the material rather than stressing over their grades. However if students do not pass the course, they will have to repeat it. The courses are designed so that students placed into MATH 125 can complete the curriculum for both MATH 125 and 126 in one semester or spread it across two semesters, depending on how much time they dedicate to the course.
