We will sorely miss both Dr. Scott Moncrieff and Dr. Vanessa Corredera. Dr. Moncrieff will be retiring after 35 years of service to the Andrews Univeristy English Department. We know that he will enjoy the extra time to golf and learn a fourth (?) language and probably at least one new instrument! Dr. Corredera, has served the department for 13 years. We wish her all the best as she begins her full professorship at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Both of these professors have made a positive impact, not only in our own department and with their numerous students over the years but also in their own fields of study and their local communities. Thank you both for your time, energy, and caring!
On Friday, April 11, 2025, three of our English students were inducted into Nu Sigma, the Andrews University chapter of Sigma Tau Delta.
Congratulations, Joel Pelletier, Audrey Lim, and Corinna Bevier!
Students from Dr. Scott Moncreiff's poetry course shared their original works with other passionate poets at a poetry reading held in the James White Library on the evening of April 17, 2025.
Dr. L. Monique Pittman and Dr. Vanessa I. Corredera recently received awards from Andrews Univeristy. On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Dr. Pittman was recognized for her 25 years of service to the university, and Dr. Corredera was awarded the Siegfried H. Horn Excellence in Research & Creative Scholarship Award. CONGRATULATIONS, Drs. Pittman and Corredera!!!

Forward in Faith: Book Launch!
On Friday, September 27, 2024, the English Department hosted a book launch celebrating the release of the latest book in the history of Andrews University series written by Dr. Meredith Jones Gray. This newest volume covers AU's history from 1960 to 1990. Congratulations, Dr. Jones Gray...both on your book...and on your retirement! You have been and always will be an integral part of this department.
Almost 40 English majors, minors, professors, and guests came together for pizza, salad, and dessert on September 20, 2024 for the annual English Department Welcome Back Beach Vespers. The evening concluded with singing and devotional sharing. Thanks to everyone who made this such a special event!
