Biography

Dean Nakamura was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors. After beginning his studies at Walla Walla University, he took a year to serve as an assistant dean at Gem State Academy—a role that sparked his passion for residence life. He returned to Walla Walla to finish his degree in communications and fully committed to a career in student leadership and mentorship.

When he’s not working, Dean Nakamura is raising his daughter, Opal, with his wife, Caroline. He cherishes time with his family—whether it's jumping in mud puddles, pulling weeds, or simply being present. He also enjoys hiking to alpine lakes, hammock camping, fishing, and connecting with friends and loved ones.
