WAUS - Music Director - WAUS

Position summary

The music director is responsible for programming all of the music that plays on WAUS as well as maintaining the music library inventory and database. There is an airshift each weekday.

Qualifications summary

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in music, library science, or related field; mastery of classical music knowledge; experience in working with  databases; good communication skills and a pleasant speaking voice.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

As part of the programming department, the Music Director is responsible for the music library and for generating playlists for use by all announcers. The Music Director will:

-see that playlists are prepared for airshifts, following guidelines set forth by the General Manager

-maintain the music library

-perform a daily airshift

-participate in public events as scheduled and assigned

-other duties as assigned

None

 

Qualifications

Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Music or Library Science, or related field.

Comprehensive classical music knowledge

Database experience

Good communication skills

Proficiency in the English language

Pleasant speaking voice


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Comfortable with computers and electronic weorkflows. 

Problem solving skill

Interpersonal interactions

Must be able to get along with a small team of co-workers and student announcers; must be comfortable answering questions from the listening audience about music selections that have been played; must be comfortable meeting the public at station events.

Physical demands

There are  minor physical demands. Light lifting (under 80#)



Work environment

This is a quiet office environment; use of headphones is required in the air studio.
